James 1:2-For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not WORTHY to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed.
It's so hard for a christian to suffer, to go through trying times. The hardest thing is to keep our joy. You see, when we go through a hard time, our defenses go down, we're more vulnerable. We are thinking with our "emotions", we're on a worldly level. This makes it easier for satan to attack us. He likes to sneak in with his snide, hateful remarks, and smother our joy. He literally steals it from us, devours it. 1 Peter 5:8 spells it out for us, Be sober, be vigilent; because your ADVERSARY (enemy) the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may DEVOUR. We make it easy for him too, we start focusing on our problems and end up having a "pity party." I've done it numerous times! Many times we'll start out great, praying, "Lord, thankyou for this trial, help m learn what you're trying to teach me" but... it doesn't happen fast enough , and we get discouraged, then we start praying, "Lord, why aren't you answering my prayers, don't you hear me?" Then in sneaks the devil-"He doesn't hear you, you're not important, you're in this mess because you're a failure, lazy, you don't deserve gappiness or secuity. Lood at the world, all the sinners, they aren't struggling- they don't need God to bless them to be prosperous."
AND WE LISTEN!!! We know it's the devil, but we listen anyways.Then we lose faith in God and ourselves. We start thinking to ourselves, God does'nt want to help me, He does'nt care, I'm on my own, He's not listening to my prayers.Bye Bye joy, hello anger, resentment, pride, depression, confusion, DESERT!
We are so weak, we are so impationt. We can overcome all this mess with consistancy, in prayer, reading the Word of God and BELIEVING. Don't lose heart, Keep your joy! James 1:2,3 says, My brethren, count it all JOY when ye fall into divers temptations; (trials) knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. Romans 12:12- REJOICING in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.
I think the lesson here is in Romans 5:3- And not only so, but we GLORY in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; I encoutage you to open your bible and read your bible and read through verse 5. Sometimes we just need a little refresher course.
Praise you God, you have everything under control. Thankyou for loving us so much that you would teach us to depend on You. Forgive us for being weak and selfish. I pray, Lord, that You would fill us with JOY overflowing. I rebuke the lies of satan in the NAME OF JESUS! Help us to be steadfast and longsuffering, as you are. Teach us Your ways, for they are not our ways. Thankyou for sending the Holy Spirit to comfort us in these trying times. Help us to remember that You only want the best for us, that You alone KNOW what's best for us. We Love YOU LORD.
